SATRIYA KRISNA

Indonesian tenor based in Leeds, UK, Satriya Krisna is known for his warm lyrical and robust velvet tone. He has performed at prestigious venues including the Royal Opera House, English National Opera, Dutch National Opera, Amsterdam Concertgebouw and Opera North.

Satriya initially pursued a degree in architecture, but his passion for music led him to the Amsterdam Conservatory where he obtained his Music BA in 2015 and Masters in 2017 under the tutelage of Henny Yana Diemer. He was selected to participate as part of international young artist programs, including the Verbier Festival Academy, Georg Solti Accademia, Samling Artist and Les Azuriales Young Artists Program. He is an alumnus of the National Opera Studio’s 2017/2018 Young Artists program in London.

Satriya has been recognised through numerous awards, including Third Prize, Audience Prize, and Student Jury Prize at the International Student Lied Duo Competition 2017 with duo pianist Felix Justin, and the Judges’ Discretionary Prize at Fulham Opera’s Robert Presley Memorial Verdi Prize 2017. He has performed the role of Don José in Bizet/Brook’s La Tragédie de Carmen with Pop-Up Opera, the role of Pinkerton Madama Butterfly and sang the role of Cavaradossi Tosca for Diva Opera. As a BAME fellowship member of the English National Opera Chorus, he has covered the roles of Peasant Luisa Miller and Gamekeeper Rusalka in 2019/20 and 2020/21. He recently covered and performed the role of Don José Carmen at Opera North and for the Longborough Festival Opera in the 2021/22 season. In 2023, he is going to cover the role of Nadir The Pearl Fishers at Opera North. He continues to develop his singing under the guidance of Richard-Berkeley Steele.
