Italian Mezzo with Middle-eastern discendent, graduate of the Conservatorio S. Cecilia in Rome, winner of the Sybil Tutton Opera Award 2021 and of the first prize in 2018 at the Simone Alaimo Competition, semifinalist in both the 2019 Handel Singing Competition (London) and the International Singing Competition for Baroque Opera «Pietro Antonio Cesti» (Innsbruck); Arlene has recently completed her studies at the National Opera Studio in London.
She graduated in Political Science and International Relations before graduating from the Conservatorio Santa Cecilia in Rome in 2015 and the Accademia di alto perfezionamento Lorenzo Perosi in Biella, where she studied with Manuela Custer, formerly vocal coach at the Centre Perfeccionament Placido Domingo. She started her working experience, during her studies at S. Cecilia, appearing in concerts with the vocal ensemble Radix Harmonica and the Cantoria Campitelli. She was then directed under the baton of Paul Daniel (Opera North), James Southall (Welsh National
Opera), Christoph Eschenbach (Teatro alla Scala), Francesco Erle (Teatro Olimpico), Alberto Malazzi (Teatro alla Scala), Piergiorgio Dionisi, Claudia Patané (Teatro Eliseo), Giuseppe Pecce, Andrea Tarantino (EtnaOpera Festival) and Davide Fagherazzi, just to mention some.
She made her operatic debut with Teatro Eliseo (Rome) in the main role Adele of the contemporary opera La Sopravvivenza della Specie. Subsequent roles include Lola Cavalleria Rusticana, Dorabella Così fan tutte (Interocrea Festival), Rosina Il barbiere di Siviglia, Cherubino Le nozze di Figaro (EtnaOpera Festival), Andromaca Il Polidoro (Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza), Tancredi Tancredi, Dorina main role in La Diavolessa in Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza and Lucretia The rape of Lucretia with Opera North.
Equally at home in oratorio and choral music, credits include Pergolesi Stabat Mater, Rossini Petite Messe Solennelle, Mozart Requiem, Puccini Gloria and Salve Regina. Her last performances count concerts with WNO, ENO, Opera North as well as her role debut as Speranza and Ninfa Orfeo in Mantua and as Zaida Il Turco in Italia at Longhope Summer Opera. She will also compete in the 59th Tenor Viñas International Singing Contest and the 2022 Handel Singing Competition (London).
